Default What is your credit score?

Anyone care to share their credit score? Myself, 799. I've never been able to achieve anything higher than that. What does it take to achieve the max at 850 (I believe). I have one Master card and one Visa card (entire balances paid in full every month), no department store credit cards or gasoline station credit cards. Recently paid off my 2007 Dodge truck. No student loans (paid as I went), 2 master's degrees. Remaining mortgage about $38,000, property currently rented out in another state. Currently renting in a different state. No other loans. I'm 47 yr old.

My score is a little over 800 although not much higher than yours! With a score of 799 you should NEVER have any trouble getting loans at the best possible rate. If it's really important for you to try to raise your score I think you probably would need a department score card or two, even if you don't use them much. Another small consumer loan might help also. I've never seen a score of 850 in over 20 years in the credit union industry! I think the highest I've ever seen was somewhere around 820! I sure have seen a lot of 400 and 500's though, especially in the last few years!

Good luck! Hope you get that score over 800!

Google "Free Annual Credit Report" and you'll find the website for the free annual credit report - required by law that you get a free report every year. You'll have to pay $12 or so to get your score. There are also many trial free credit score websites.

LOL at all the high 700's or 800. I'm happy in the low 700's with my personal credit drama. It's good enough to get whatever I want, reasonably speaking.

When it comes to improving your score, it's important to:

1) pay off your credit card balances every month
2) hold on to your oldest credit card b/c credit history is important
3) don't apply to too many credit cards at once as that can have a negative impact on your score
4) also, don't over-use your cards. Meaning, if you credit limit is $3,000 and you charge $2,700. That can have a negative impact on your score. Try to keep your charges below 30% of your credit limit.

BTW, my credit score is 803. Hope this helps.
