Default get your thoughts... What is money?

Hello everyone,

I'm looking at putting out some topics to help everyone every now and then. Let me know what you thing and if this is something that you'd like to see more often...

So Here's the first one:

What is Money?

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

Nope it’s just a piece of paper. Something that states value so that you can trade different levels of service for. It is a commodity, not good nor evil. It is a tool that you use to take care of your needs and realize your goals. It is attainable by providing a service to others. It is only as useful as what you do with it.

Think back when you were a kid at your favorite store. You’d look around and point to all of the things that you wanted. It wasn’t until your parents gave you that piece of paper that you could hand over to the person behind the counter that would make your heart sing with happiness because you just got what you really wanted. As you got older you realized that this piece of paper didn’t magically appear, but you had to work for it. Each time that you’d do your chores, you’d get more money. Until you got want you wanted. Then you’d start all over again. In adulthood, you now go to work each week to get that check. So that you can go out with friends, drive that nice car, have the latest tech toys, and so on. We keep striving for that next level that our income will take us to. Some people were able to take it to the extreme. Sitting way up high, looking down. Some point in time it was this greediness to make themselves feel better was deemed as a bad thing. Of course we jumped to the conclusion that it was the money causing the issue. When really can an inanimate object do anything that we don’t tell it to do?

Yes we all have to work in one form or another to get that “o-precious” dollar. Whether we go to work, work for ourselves or invest it for a return to cover our needs. I think the majority of us have gotten caught up in this circle. Spending more as we make more to get us to where we think that we need to be. But I think really deep down inside we’re all chasing that dream of having all that money can do for you. To give you that freedom to do what you want, when you want it. To give to those who need it more than you. To be able to share your joy with others unconditionally. Somehow it was taught to us that we need to make millions to be able to do this. Be we don’t.

We just need to cover our basic needs. Food on the table, roof over our heads, clothes on our backs and a way for us to make money by serving other. When we make excess income, we get to decide on what extras we want to do with our money. To donate to your favorite charity, help out the person on the street, see different sights around the world, and whatever you heart else desires.

If you just think that all you’ll have do is that once you make X dollars year or month or whatever number that you have in your mind, you can make that dream come true. But when you get there you realize that you haven’t made that dream come true. So that you now make your magic number higher. And the process repeats.

You have to have a plan for your money. Otherwise you’re just taking a trip through life without a destination.
