Credit cards are just a form of cashless economy. The economy will be more and more cashless, and I believe other forms will appear besides credit cards - and not necessarily mobile wallets. Maybe some chips in your hand, or fingerprint authorization, or something alike.

Mobile wallet technology has been around for less than half a decade and is largely an untested system. It is too early for mobile wallets to kill the credit card industry and perhaps in future in some form it may prove to be a worthy successor to the plastic money. However, to get there mobile wallets will take years of improvement and pass through several trials by fire.
